Retinal Blood Vessels

Written by Bruce Cooper

The retinal blood vessels are situated in the choroid just below the retina. These blood vessels nourish the retina and an optometrist or ophthalmologist is able to see them while conducting a comprehensive eye examination. Healthy retinal blood vessels are essential to good vision and abnormal growth or leaking vessels could result in serious conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.
