Drivewear Lenses

Written by Carson Barker

Drivewear lenses are photochromic lenses that are designed to adhere to light conditions in and outside of a vehicle. Most photochromic lenses don’t function correctly inside of an automobile, because the windshield blocks UV rays which are necessary for the lens to transition from clear to dark. Drivewear lenses however, are specially designed to darken accordingly even when the UV rays are blocked by the windshield. This is possible because Drivewear lenses adhere to both UV light and visible light. This enables the lenses to darken inside the car under bright sunlight conditions, which is the optimal lens condition for drivers.
drivewear2Drivewear lenses have other benefits for driving as well. For instance, Drivewear lenses capitalize on cloudy, low light levels by subtly darkening to a polarized yellow color, which increases color contrast. This enables the driver to see colors and shapes more clearly when the visible light is gray and colorless.  The polarization process also helps eliminate glare that is reflected from the windshield, and it works in all stages of the Drivewear lens.

Drivewear lenses are available for almost all eyeglasses, including rimless and vintage eyeglasses frames. They are also available in prescription and nonprescription form.
